Ngai Tahu Research Centre (NTRC): The NTRC is focused on the nexus between economy and environment, specifically applying the insights that can be drawn from the Māori worldview and emergent operating principles on how both indigenous and non-indigenous actors can navigate the interactions between profit, people and the planet.
Dr. John Reid
John’s iwi is Ngati Pikiao. Senior Research Fellow at the Ngai Tahu Research Centre (NTRC), John is the Industry leader for the Māori Case study, bringing both industry and academic experience to the project. From his PhD examining optimising Māori land development to his time developing initiatives and projects at TRONT through to leadership on MBIE projects at NTRC, John has always focused on the application of Kaupapa Māori approaches to economic and environmental issues.

Tremane Barr
Tremane is Ngāi Tahu (Kāti Māhaki ki Makaawhio). With a MSc examining Māori organic farming and a depth of industry experience and connections, Ngai Tahu Research Centre (NTRC) Research Fellow, Tremane has led both the technical development and field research for the Māori case study. Involving synthesizing numerous auditing schemes and engaging with numerous stakeholders, this work has provided the necessary information and foundation for the development of an assessment tool.

Ngai Tahu Research Centre (NTRC) Research Fellow, Matthew has a background in theory, particularly the interaction between ontology, epistemology and methodology. He has been instrumental in developing the underpinning conceptual framework that has guided the Māori case study, providing insights into how worldview, principles and values impact the praxis of measuring and managing complex environmental systems.

Courteney Sealey
Courteney is Ngāi Tahu (Ngāi Te Ruahikihiki). Ngai Tahu Research Centre (NTRC) PhD candidate, Courteney is developing and testing standards for the Forestry team and has undertaken in-depth field work with a number of key sector stakeholders. She is the Industry leader for the Forestry sector with support and mentoring from John Reid (NTRC) and Tim Payn (SCION).
